Andreas Pijlman's profile

by Drees Enlightment, Collection Lamps

By Drees is a design label for affordable hand-made interior products. The label was established in December 2012 by Andreas Pijlman and his atelier is located in Amsterdam.
The label’s concept originates in the rejection of the idea that many products in our consumer society have only one function.
Andreas also rejects that premise that design is a luxury item.
Packaging, construction materials and other disposables fulfill their task and are subsequently disposed of.  However their shapes remain valuable and powerful. The designs By Drees make their original function fade away and create a new unusual destiny.  New contexts for familiar forms often result in surprising effects. Waste of light represents the first collection for this label.
